Just now getting around to posting this thought for the day from February 1, 2016
I think we often get hung up on the thing we are to “do”; the thing we want God to tell us – “do this” or “do that” but I’m thinking the thing God really wants us to do is hear his heart. Once we know that, we are free to choose what to do; we will “know” what to do. If you know his heart grieves for the hungry, follow his example. He saw the multitudes and had compassion on them and fed them. How you do it is up to you, whether you volunteer in a soup kitchen or give to the local food pantry, or buy a bag of groceries for a single mom, or buy a hamburger for a beggar, just do what your heart tells you.
When you feel empathy and compassion for someone in need, you are hearing God’s heart. It may not come out like an audible voice, or even a conscious thought like, “Hey, this is God, see that person over there, I feel their hunger pains, go buy a bag of groceries.” But if you have the Spirit of God in you, it is God speaking to your spirit.
